Imagine the Vision
At the heart of Girl Talk are our Signature Events that cultivate community. Our girls seek a safe place to be, and for us, providing that safe place is where we see true transformation happen. Girl Talk was birthed out of hosting “sleepovers”, and those sleepovers have turned into so much more. “The Girl Talk House” perpetuates that feeling of being in a safe, loving, nurturing environment where our girls and their mentors can receive grace, love, hope, and support. The Girl Talk House is much more than a “building”. It is the hub of all things Girl Talk, Inc. It is our future home and the future home of girls in our community.
The Girl Talk House will be a multi-use facility where programming and administrative offices merge, creating more community in which our girls and mentors can feel safe, loved, and supported. All 6,900 square feet will allow us to provide quality programming for generations to come.
Inspire Growth
The Cost
The associated cost for this project is $4.2 million. The first $3.6 million is for the construction of the Girl Talk House, and the remaining $600,000 is for two years of increased operational costs as Girl Talk doubles its capacity.
Double Capacity + Increased Efficiency
Upon completion of The Girl Talk House, Girl Talk will increase its capacity from supporting 400 girls at one time to 800. Our staff size will double. Our cost per girl will decrease, saving us $228,800 a year.
Invest in Community
Will you commit to empowering girls to become their best selves in our community?
Since Girl Talk, Inc. has looked to increase its capacity through The Girl Talk House Project, we are increasing our organizational capacity to be sustainable. This is done by focusing on such areas as the board, program staff, volunteers, operational funding, and strategic partnerships. The campaign for The Girl Talk House includes $600,000 of funding for the increased operating cost of Girl Talk, Inc. This funding provides the operating revenues required while Girl Talk moves to implement its long-term sustainability plan.
Girl Talk uses a sustainable relationship-based funding model called Benevon to increase annual operational funding in anticipation of the completion of The Girl Talk House. Girl Talk currently raises enough funding annually to fully operate 2 of its 3 programs and is working on growing that funding to operate at full capacity upon completion of The Girl Talk House, increasing operations to $1 million per year.
This $4.2-million-dollar project is ambitious, but it reflects the resources needed to continue to empower some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
The plan to complete The Girl Talk House and the companion Plan for Sustainability has been passionately and prayerfully prepared in every detail with the wisdom and oversight of some of the best professionals in their fields in East Tennessee.
This effort ensures that Girl Talk can deepen and sustain its impact locally, helping break the cycle of generational poverty for girls and their families.
