Our School & Site-Based Program

Girl Talk collaborates with United Way Community Schools (formerly known as the Knoxville Education Foundation), Knox County Schools, and Community Organizations to provide group mentoring services to 3rd –  5th grade girls after school. Through curriculum-based learning objectives and group mentoring, we assist in building girls’ confidence and self-esteem, preventing teen pregnancy, and increasing the likelihood of educational advancement.

Each semester, girls participate in 10-weekly group sessions facilitated by trained Girl Talk mentors. These sessions teach the girls healthy coping skills, offer a safe space to process their daily lives and feelings, and the opportunity to build a positive peer community.

“Before Girl Talk I didn’t think that God could love me.  But on the Retreat He reassured me that everything that happened to me happened for a reason, and one day I will find out why.  Now I know that God loves me even with everything that I have been through.”

Corey, Girl Talk Graduate
