Be a Girl Talk Life Prep Academy Volunteer!
Remember how hard it was to get ready for life after high school and how unprepared you felt? Life Prep Academy Volunteers help our Sophomore and Junior Cohorts get ready for everything that life throws post graduation.
The Girl Talk Life Prep Academy has needs for two types of volunteer positions: (1) Life Prep Academy Volunteers and (2) Life Prep Academy Career Coach.
A Life Prep Academy Volunteer should:
Have a heart for girls and a vested interest in preparing them for life and their future career.
Attend & support 4 weekend sessions per school year.
Attend a volunteer training in June.
Complete and pass a background check (paid for by Girl Talk, Inc).
Minimum of 1 year commitment.
A Life Prep Career Coach should:
Have a heart for girls and a vested interest in preparing them for life and their future career.
Cultivate a one-on-one relationship with a senior in the Life Prep Academy by text, phone calls, and face-to-face meetings as needed.
Be available to answer any questions your Senior may have about college, life, and their future career through texting, social media, phone calls and face-to-face meetings as needed.
Attend & support 4 weekend Life Prep Academy sessions per school year.
Attend a yearly volunteer training
Complete a background check (paid for by Girl Talk, Inc).
Minimum of 2 year commitment.
Application, Selection and Training Process:
All volunteers will go through the following application, selection and training process:
- Complete the volunteer application, including references and permission for a criminal background check.
- The applicant will then be invited for an interview with Girl Talk Staff. This is a time for Girl Talk to find out more about the candidate and the candidate to find out more about Girl Talk.
- Following the interview, Girl Talk will then check the references on the application.
- Successful candidates will be offered a spot in an upcoming volunteer training.
- Each volunteer must successfully pass a background check.
The safety and well being of our Girl Talk participants is our number one priority. If at any time during the process, it becomes apparent that the applicant is not a good fit for Girl Talk, or does not meet our eligibility requirements, they will be notified.
